CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY IS COMING! 🎅🎄

On Thursday 10th December, we are proud to be supporting Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day!

❤️ Donate £1 and wear your favourite Christmas jumper to school. All donations will go directly to Save the Children to help make a difference to children's lives around the world.
👕 Students and staff are invited to take part!
✅ Christmas jumpers should be worn over your normal school uniform or PE top
✅ £1 donation to support the charity
✅ Festive fun for a fantastic cause

Let's fill the school with Christmas spirit and help support children who need it most this festive season!

Barcelona Residential 2026

Touchdown in Barcelona! ✈️

After a few unexpected delays, we are thrilled to announce that we have officially landed in Spain!
A massive shout-out to all of our incredible students—they have been absolute stars throughout the travel process, showing amazing patience, resilience, and great spirits while everything was being sorted. We couldn't be prouder of how well they handled it all!

Day 1 Barcelona

We are all settled into the hotel and the students are happy with their rooms. We sat and had dinner, all chatting together which has been really lovely. The students have represented both school’s so well today and spirits are high.
We have all enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal: Starter of spaghetti & sauce, main of chicken with potatoes which the students loved and finally a lovely strawberry mousse for dessert.

Day 2 Barcelona

Everyone is well rested and has enjoyed a lovely breakfast of fruit, doughnuts, croissants and a selection of cereals and juices. The group loved taking photos of the sunrise over the town this morning.

We have an exciting and packed itinerary today exploring the Gothic Quarter, Big Fun Museum, Sagrada Família, Gaudi’s Casa Battio and hopefully some markets and shopping.

Sadly we lost 5-3 - the girls did amazing as it was their first proper run out at as a team.
Their player of the match was Alba✨ and Miss Ticehurst’s player of the match was Birdé✨ We are looking forward to seeing our new Year 7 team progress and continue to show great teamwork skills and determination to get better!

Amazing work, all players showed great teamwork and resilience. Miss Ticehurst is really proud of every single one of you!

🏐Y9 Ashford & Shepway Netball Tournament🏐

The Year 9 netball team took part in a competitive tournament, facing some challenging matches. Despite some tough games, the girls showed great resilience, teamwork and determination, continuing to support one another and keep their spirits high. Their positive attitude and commitment paid off, with the team finishing joint 4th place overall.
A special mention goes to Sanskriti, who was awarded Star Player for her fantastic contribution to the team. Well done to all the girls for representing the school so brilliantly!

Cross Country Success!

Nine pupils proudly represented Chilmington Green School at the cross-country event, and all put on a fantastic display! Every pupil showed great determination, effort and sportsmanship, making it a brilliant day for the school.

A special mention goes to Kaelan and Florence, who both came away with medals after an outstanding performance, finishing 1st and 2nd in their race.🏆🥈

Well done to all nine pupils for representing the school so brilliantly. We are incredibly proud of you all 💙

This week, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mr Islam for delivering a series of engaging and thought-provoking Black History Month awareness assemblies across the school.

Our pupils had the opportunity to learn about the achievements, contributions and experiences of Black individuals throughout history and in contemporary society.
The assemblies encouraged reflection, celebrated diversity, and highlighted the importance of inclusion, respect and equality for all.

Thank you, Mr Islam, for sharing your knowledge and inspiring our students to deepen their understanding of Black history and its significance in shaping our world today

Year 10 Football v Turner School

⚽ CGS Year 10 Football Match Report⚽️

Mr Doughty’s debut game for CGS ended in a tough defeat for the Year 10s against a strong and very physical Turner side.
The boys played some excellent football in spells, but a few key moments allowed Turner to take control before half-time.
Changes were made at the break and had an immediate impact. CGS showed real determination, working tirelessly and pushing hard for that elusive goal, but unfortunately it just wouldn’t come.
Despite the result, the attitude, professionalism and maturity shown by the boys was outstanding throughout. Plenty of positives to take forward.

🏆 Player of the Match: Regan C Y10 for a physical and mature performance. An absolute credit to CGS.

📅 Next up: Folkestone Academy on Thursday.

Tutor Reading Programme

📖Our tutor guided reading programme has got off to a great start this academic year, with students enjoying the opportunity to begin new books alongside their tutors.
Through regular shared reading sessions, tutors model fluent reading aloud, helping students develop confidence, strengthen literacy skills, and foster a positive relationship with reading. Most importantly, the programme provides an enjoyable and supportive reading experience that students can share together as a tutor group.
We encourage parents and carers to ask their young person about the book they are reading in tutor time and to discuss the story, characters and themes with them at home to help nurture a love of reading – thank you in advance for your support!📚

KCC Road Safety Awareness Workshop - Year 7 & Year 9

📢 Road Safety Education in School Today 🚦

Today, our Year 7 and Year 9 students took part in valuable KCC Road Sense Road Safety Sessions, delivered by a member of the Safer Road Users Team.

🚶 Year 7 explored the topic of Distractions, learning about the risks that can affect their safety when walking near roads and how to stay alert in different situations.

🚗 Year 9 focused on Good Decisions, encouraging students to think about the choices they make as road users and the importance of responsible behaviour.

These engaging 60-minute sessions are age-appropriate and support many aspects of the PSHE curriculum, helping to develop essential life skills and promote students' personal development.

A big thank you to the Safer Road Users Team for delivering these important sessions and helping our students stay safe, informed, and confident when using our roads
