Design and Technology Curriculum Update Term 2

Year 7 🪑

Last term, Year 7 were introduced to isometric drawing and studied four key twentieth century design movements. Using this knowledge, they have began creating chairs concept for their own design movement inspired chairs. This term, they will build models of their designs to help them to refine and develop their ideas into final chair concepts.

 

Year 8 📖

Year 8 have been working on an architecture project, designing an outdoor classroom for Chilmington Green School to support a new subject offering, based around their own interests and hobbies. After conducting a site visit and site analysis, they have created floor plans and presented initial ideas to their peers. This term, they will learn how to draw measured building elevations and construct models, culminating in a final presentation to their class.

 

Year 9 🐦‍⬛

Year 9 have been developing core D&T skills through a bird house project. They have learned isometric drawing and marker rendering techniques to enhance their design sketches. This term, they will begin by building models of their designs which will serve as a foundation for the practical construction of their bird houses. These will either be taken home or installed on the school site to help enhance biodiversity.
